GIMC presents free artists workshop
16 Aug 2015
The second annual Gaborone International Music and Culture (GIMC) week is poised to thrill music lovers with a jam packed line-up performance come September 1-6.
Artists performing and those not in the lineup can look forward to a free workshop organised specially for their benefit. The workshop organiser, Fish Pabalinga says there will be a one-day interaction on the first of September.
Pabalinga says the workshop is intended to impart skills to artists to enable them to make it in the industry. It also aims at giving artists and performers the business side of the showbiz industry and how to sustain their careers in the cut throat industry, says Pabalinga.
Beside the workshop, GIMC attendees can look forward to an electrifying and sweeter offering with everything melodious from jazz legends to Botswana’s finest gem with everything from upbeat and vibrant acts for the young and restless, and even something to crack one’s ribs.
The star studded line up is set to feature artists performing in different stages or venues and at different places and times to suit those who wish to have it all. Local comedy icon, the hilarious Dignash Morapedi will headline the comedy alongside newcomer, Mawee and Rekunde with Nigeria’s Basketmouth.
Award winning Mafikizolo, Kuli Chana and of course Zeus with Botswana’s gem of Lizibo, Bk Proctor, Sasa Klaas, Scar, T.H.A.B.O., Mapetla, MMP Family and many others are set to get the young at heart down and dancing as well as grooving all night.
The new kid of jazz, Sethunya Maele is set to blaze BotswanaCraft with the legendary Ringo Madlingozi and Kyle Sherper while choral enthusiasts will be treated to melodious voices of UCCSA Choir, Maikano Serenaders, Mochudi Circuit Choir and KTM.
Sereetsi and the Natives are also on the bill and are sure to bring in a distinct folk flavour to this growing music and culture event which is now in its second offering. ENDS
