Gospel boyz off to Sweden
13 Aug 2015
A talented gospel group, Aregopoleng Gospel Boyz will represent the country at an international gospel festival slated for August 19 to 27 in Stockholm, Sweden.
All the expenses of the trip such as air tickets and accommodation have been taken care of by the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture.
Formed in 2011, Aregopoleng Gospel Boyz is 2013 BOMU Best Traditional Gospel award winner and 2013 President’s Day Celebrations Awards second finalist.
The Gaborone based group comprises four young men in Kepadile Mantswenyane, Thato Andina, Kagiso Magano and Tumisang Marumoagae.
In an interview recently, Magano said it would be their second invitation to Sweden, adding that the first invitation did not materialise last year due to other circumstances.
He said their relationship with the Stockholm Gospel, a Swedish non-profit association that arranges concerts, festivals, workshops and tours, was born when the association wrote to the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture requesting a gospel group that would participate at the Stockholm Gospel International festival, hence the ministry chose Aregopoleng Gospel Boyz.
The artist said the group was well prepared for the big event, noting that they have been performing at different festivals locally, including taking part at the annual Maitisong Festival.
The invitation has brought excitement to Aregopoleng Gospel Boyz as this would provide a platform to showcase Botswana’s talent in performing arts at international level thereby creating opportunities for further collaborations. ENDS
