Man pleads guilty on five counts

A 31 year old Zimbabwean national Mlaleli Moyo pleaded guilty to five counts of thefts in Letlhakane Magistrate Court today.

Appearing before Her Worship Keneilwe Koobake, the accused person who was the only one who pleaded guilty was jointly charged with the other two who had pleaded not guilty. 

His co- accused persons were Zimbabwean nationals, Thulani Masina aged 40 who was the first accused and the third one Dumisani Ndlovu aged 30.

According to the particulars of the offence the state alleges that the three accused persons acting jointly in concert on the 24 January 2015 committed the offence of shop breaking and theft at Mokubilo General Dealer and stole items amounting to P770.00. 

The second count was bar breaking and theft in which it is alleged that the three acting jointly in concert on the same day broke into Lethogelwa Enterprise and stole items amounting to P1187.50 including alcoholic beverages. 

Still on the same day the three accused persons broke into Lethogelwa General Dealer and stole goods amounting to P840.00. 

They further committed two more counts of breaking into two shops still in Mokubilo and stole goods amounting to P674.00 and P1610.00 respectively. 

The court has set the date of 12 August 2015 for the summary of facts pertaining to all counts to be read to the second accused person. 

The magistrate further advised the prosecution to conduct a separation of trial since he has pleaded guilty.

Meanwhile the 1st accused person Thulani Masina applied for bail pending trial on grounds that he has stayed in prison for a long time. 

He further said that he has some relatives who are reside in Francistown. The ruling is expected to be delivered on the 12 August 2015 and the accused persons were further remanded in prison.
