Mogopodi is Miss Geological Surveys

03 Aug 2015

The Department of Geological Surveys (DGS) treated its employees to an adorable beauty pageant.

The organisers were determined to make the most out of the show as contestants came with sharpened claws to give each other stiff competition as well as to give the audience a warm night with a range of beautiful attire in different colours and styles.

It was cuteness all around when contestants in their first parade warmed the stage with colourful night dresses with matching sleepers.

It all started to heat up as the artists in the likes of Sbonta kept the audience in a vibrant mood to enjoy the night with their melodious retentions.

The second parade drove the audience bananas as the contestants painted the auditorium all in white, giving the show an angelic view.

Still in a vibrant mood the third parade broke them to the last pieces as contestants came dressed to the nines.

They shone brightly during the show and their energies and humour matched and complemented that of the audience.  That left the judges with a mammoth task to pick the queen and dismiss hopefuls that missed the mark as it looked for those watching the show at the comfort of their seats.

Some audiences seemed not to be comfortable with the selected winners as they thought the judges’ decisions were cruel and unnecessary.

In his remarks, chief organiser, Kabo Moreriwa said the judging criteria looked on certain aspects such as attire, smile, walk and confidence displayed by the contestants.

Ultimately, Goitseone Mogopodi was crowned the DGS queen while Flora Rabanna scooped the first princess and Kereng Oagile emerged the second princess.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, DGS director, Tiyapo Ngwisanyi said beauty pageant competitions were held every year alongside with inter-ministerial games which form part of the ministry developed initiative’s to promote teamwork. Ends
