Vehicle knocks down soldiers

A Botswana Defence Force (BDF) soldier died while another was admitted at Kasane Primary Hospital after a vehicle veered off the road and knocked them down Friday morning (July 24).
The accident occurred along A33 Road in Pandamatenga while the soldiers were engaged in physical training.
Speaking in an interview, Chobe District officer commanding, Senior Suprintendent Mojaboswa Mathitha, said the 38-year old deceased originated from Natale. His parents have been informed.
Superintendent Mathitha said investigations were ongoing to determine the cause of the accident. Meanwhile, he said the driver, a 58-year old South African, appeared in court in Kasane the same day and will appear for mention on August 3. He has been remanded in custody.
In another recent accident, a motorist died on the spot after an elephant attack.
