Miss Botswana auditions Saturday

The revamped Miss Botswana beauty pageant auditions will kick off at Adasonia Hotel in Francistown over the weekend.

This was announced by the pageant’s media relations director, Tshepo Maphanyane, at the pageant’s launch press briefing held at Limkokwing University of Creative Technology this week. The auditions would start at 0900am and end at 0530pm.

She said having concluded their talks with their stakeholders; they were working around the clock to ensure that they hold a successful pageant slated for September 29 to enable them to have time to groom the queen for the global spectacle later this year. Young ladies aged 18-25 are eligible to compete.

She said they were encouraged by the commitment that the sponsors have shown.

Maphanyane said this year’s pageant will have three main interests; job creation through promoting the modelling and textile industry, empowering girl child through education and building towards 50 years of existence. .

On his part deputy permanent secretary in the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture Kgopotso Moroka said the ministry and the pageant alliance over the years have left an indelible mark in the development of the youth in the county.

He expressed his pleasure at Botswana Council of Women’s decision to go back to the basics and now focus in on their mandate.

Ramoroka said this should help in building mutual trust between the older generation and the younger generation in society. He commended the private sector’s involvement as the government could not do it alone due to financial constraints.

He said the MYSC would assist BCW by covering the costs of venue and production related costs for both the fashion show and the gala dinner, assist the winner with tickets to Miss World for the queen as well as her wardrobe and they would also take care of the selected fashion designers production cost.

Other sponsors for the pageant includes Limkokwing University of Creative technology, Liberty Life Botswana, Apex, Avis, Air Botswana, Jack’s Gym, The Voice Newspaper and Yarona FM.

This year’s winner will walk-away with full scholarship at Limkokwing Malaysia campus to study any degree or Masters of their choice valued at over P500 000, Liberty Life platinum policy cover valued at P1.5m for five years and P100 000 cash prize.

The first princess will win tuition fee scholarship at Limkokwing Botswana to study any programme of their choice valued at P151 980, platinum policy cover from Liberty Life valued at P1m for 5 years and P50 000 price money while the second runner up will walk away with tuition fee scholarship at Limkokwing Botswana, Liberty cover valued at P500 000 for five years and P25 000 cash prize. Consolation prizes stand at P2 000 cash prize and P15 000 funeral cover from Liberty Life for five years. Ends
