Prosecution awaits post-mortem report
21 Jul 2015
The prosecutor in a case in which Thebe Serile is facing a single count of murder told Masunga magistrate, Ms Onkarabile Mokone that the state was still awaiting a post-mortem report from the Botswana Police Service forensic laboratory.
Sergeant Alec Moamogwe, who appeared on behalf of Sergeant Paphidzo Kuda of Tutume Police Station, said the report has been sent for typing. He then applied for the accused person’s further remand pending the finalisation of police investigations.
Magistrate Mokone granted the prosecution’s application for Serile’s further remand, and set July 28 for the next mention. The 58-year-old Serile is accused of the murder of his mother, Ms Kereeletswe Makandiko, on or about April 11 this year in Nshakazhogwe.
Meanwhile, a plea was reserved in a case in which 24-year-old Witness Moyo of Zimbabwe is facing a single count of unlawful wounding, as the complainant was still hospitalised.
Sgt Moamogwe said the prosecution has since received information that the complainant, also a Zimbabwean national, has since been discharged from hospital.
Further remanding the accused in custody, Magistrate Mokone said plea taking would be done at the next mention which she similarly set for July 28.
Moyo allegedly committed the offence on June 20 this year at Botshelo farm in Sebina. ENDS
