BK Proctor delivers Masterpiece

16 Jul 2015

Talented and young prolific producer BK Proctor has released an exquisite album of duets. The album, Masterpiece of duets, opens with the soothing voice of Princess and BK’s lyrical flow on a track entitled Masterpiece.

The tune is followed by another gently calming voice of the talented Samantha in The chase. The album is an eclectic mix of hip hop, folk, soul, jazz, gospel and house.

The songs prove why BK is a master of his game. Mogwana featuring Culture Spears and Matlhogoputswa featuring Mxolisi of Ke wa go Helen fame will blow the listener away with their mid-tempo beats. BK’s vocals blend well with Kabelo’s timbre in this traditional song. The song shows why BK is one of the best producers in the country.

Matlhogoputswa is a tribute to icons that helped build this country’s show business. Although disappointedly short, the song has a soulful danceable feel with beautifully arranged instruments. It surely deserves to be put on repeat mode.

Another notable song is Remember, which features MMP Family. It will go down well with the young and hip. The album also carries some house tunes such as Good Morning starring jazz guitar maestro Jimmy Dludlu and Groove Cartel.

Dr Tawanda makes an appearance on the danceable Giroriya while Gouveia and Vee star on Fanilani and Zoom respectively. For his hip hop fans, BK serves up We made it with Sasa Klaas. Lister Boleseng’s O tlhokana le nna gets a remake that is a tad too faithful to the original, save for the verse section.

Perhaps more of a somewhat new sound would have complemented BK’s vocals even more and made the song a killer remix. The gospel tunes are engaging and contain good lyrical content. These include Morena o re thuse with Pastor Molf and the old hymn Re a mo leboga featuring the peaceful sweet voice of producer Tshepo Lesole.

The 16 track album is yet another addition to the collection of beautifully composed and arranged musical works in Botswana. Ends
