South African songstress Kelly Khumalo gave Ghanzi revellers a worth for their money in her enticing performance over the weekend at Hilltalk Club.
Clad in black and gold skimpy bodysuits, Kelly and her dancers could not be dispirited by the chilly weather but instead danced the cold night away. Although her set performance was shorter than expected, she had the audience on their dancing feet and craving for more of her act.
She treated Ghanzi revellers to a journey of her craft dishing out some of her hit songs from her previous albums; songs like Xinisela.
She revealed in an interview that whenever she performs she captures everything of her craft from when she started her musical career as she believes her fans travel with her in her music journey.
Kelly who has been in and out of Botswana and being her first time ever in Ghanzi said she was humbled by the love and support she gets from Batswana.
She became popular among the revellers with her hit single track Asine from her latest album. The slow tempo single which was released prior to the death of her Orlando Pirates soccer beau Senzo Meyiwa was remixed into a smashing house hit by Botswana’s very own DJ Bino who is based in Selebi Phikwe making it one of the most played at entertainment spots.
The show also headlined local artiste and Dj La Timmy as well as Ghanzi based Djs.
The robust ever gyrating La Timmy took to stage before Kelly’s performance and he did not disappoint.
Like Kelly, he also performed his old and new songs and the audience’s response was thrilling. But the highlight of the show was when the Ghanzi Flat Caps boys danced their Ghanzi unique dance which is fondly called ‘zomadance’. Ends
