Police in Mochudi are investigating an incident in which a 64-year-old man of Artesia was robbed of money and goods amounting to P43 000.
Assistant Superintendent Wazha Zambezi said four thieves broke into the senior citizen’s home last Friday and got away with P21 800, a plasma screen, blankets and three cell phones, which all amounted to P43 398.
He said the thieves broke the kitchen window ato enter the house. Assistant Superintendent Zambezi said the old man was awoken by the noise. He said the thieves proceeded to beat him to a pulp and forced him to surrender his goods.
The police chief said they suspected that the culprits could have known the old man and followed him with the intent to steal.
He said the criminals are still at large. He appealed to members of the public to assist them with any information that could lead to their arrest.
Assistant Superintendent Zambezi advised Batswana against putting large sums of money in their houses as it puts them in danger of criminal elements. Ends
