Latin and Ballroom dance has a lot of benefits, as it does not only bring happiness but also boasts one’s self confidence. Director of Francistown Unified Dance Academy, Tebogo Gaseitsiwe said at the launch of the academy in Francistown recently.

Gaseitsiwe said, in Francistown, she had the urge of starting the academy because she realised that there was none. The academy whose main target is children will not only keep the children busy but will also fight obesity among them, “This academy will also bring opportunity for elders to learn how to dance,” she said.

The academy which operates at the tennis club offer morning and afternoon sessions, three days a week and offers Chacha, Jive, Rumba, Samba, Paso Doble, Waltz, Quickstep, Tango, Viennese Waltz and Fox trot.

In a previous interview, Gaseitsiwe revealed that the academy would stimulate the Francistown community to embrace dance as a sport. She said the academy has 38 children, four adults and 10 youth and the fees are P295 per month for adults and P250 for children.

Gaseitsiwe who started dancing in 1987, works with Ngwao Lenkwetse. She is not only passionate about dance but has been a dancer for the past 10 years.

During the launch which was well attended, the audience was not only mesmerised by dance moves from the academy students but also had opportunity to have a glimpse of Shashe River School dance club which left them flabbergasted.

As if it was not enough, the coach Lenkwetse and his dance partner, Orefile Ofentse amazed onlookers by giving them a taste of each of the dance moves.

Proposing a vote of thanks, Dominique Raguin applauded Ngwao for his patience in teaching the children how to dance, “it only takes passion and dedication for one to teach dance especially to children.” ENDS
