Doors open for production companies

With the launch of the new channel on DSTV set to premier on July 1, local production houses have been called on to submit content to MultiChoice Botswana as this will be an opportunity for Batswana to view various programmes and shows.
Speaking during a media brief, MultiChoice Botswana’s public relations and publicity executive, Thembile Legwaila said the new channel is called Zambezi Magic and it will start airing on July 1.
“It will be on channel 160 and it will be available on DSTV Compact, Compact Plus and Premium,” she said.
The channel will air various programmes/shows such as Generations, Isidingo and many others that were only available in South Africa. She said those that were getting the shows illegally by subscribing in South Africa maybe skeptical, but as MultiChoice Botswana they had to do things by the book.
“Firstly, people should not have been subscribing in South Africa to begin with because of piracy laws,” she said.
Legwaila said MultiChoice Botswana has recently been asking local production houses to bring their work because the new channel is going to be a hub of Southern African entertainment.
She said as for now, local shows will not be aired on the channel, and they will be a Zambian programme and hopefully locally shows will be also be aired when they were ready for public viewing.
She said subscribers will also connect to the Explora at their homes after completing the project and that viewers will have twice as much recording time.
Legwaila said they are waiting for BOCRA to approve the certificate that allows MultiChoice Botswana to sell the gadget.
She also encouraged subscribers not to only subscribe for DSTV Premium or nothing when they do not have money while there were other bouquets to relay on. Ends
