Theatre groups put on good performance

Onkemetse Clark has applauded theatre groups for their good performance during the President’s Day regional competitions held in Lobatse recently.
Clark, who was part of the adjudication team, underscored the need for participants to take the arts seriously as they can generate employment and play an important role in economic diversification.
He encouraged the participants to learn from their mistakes so as to do better in the next round of the competition. He encouraged the participants to follow the script religiously.
Clark said they looked at how the actors presented the play and used words.
Eleven groups competed in the Lobatse regional competitions with Peo Creations and Performers of Molepolole emerging victorious.
Peo Creations and performers will represent the region during the President’s Day national competitions in July in Gaborone. Tsogang Africa Theatre Group from Gaborone got position two while Ramotswa-based Coyata scooped position three.
The artistic director of Peo Creations and Perfomers Mompati Molelowakgotla said they will continue preparations to ensure that they win the national competitions.
An official from the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture Tebogo Maoketsa said she was happy with the audience turnout, saying that it indicates that people support the arts. Ends
