Man pleads guilty to two counts

Maitumelo Motswetla has pleaded guilty to a charge of driving a public service vehicle under the influence of alcohol and driving a motor vehicle without a licence.

The facts of the matter presented before Magistrate Segametsi Basinyi of Jwaneng were that on the October 5, 2014, the accused was found parked in the middle of the road at Choppies mall by police officers

The two officers reportedly asked the accused to produce a driver’s licence, which he failed to produce stating that he did not hold a drivers licence. He was later asked to accompany the officers to the police station to conduct a breath control test.

The accused was found to have exceeded the limit, as the results were 0.33mg of alcohol in 1000 ml breath exceeding the prescribed limit of 1.20mg of alcohol in 1000 ml in breath.

Copies of calibration certification, service certificate and print out were produced as part of evidence in court. The accused is expected to appear in court on July 14 for presentation of previous convictions. Ends
