Music enthusiasts were treated to a variety of music genres at the annual Fête de la Musique festival over the weekend.

The worldwide music festival, in its 13th edition, saw more than 30 musicians of different genres including djs and dance groups performing.

The festival is always an opportunity for new or upcoming musicians to showcase their talent and also get exposure.  Renowned artistes such as Vee and Zeus also had the opportunity to entertain music fanatics at this year’s Fête de la Musique festival.

As usual, the festival attracted masses, despite the chilly weather and another crowd puller event, the Toyota 1 000km desert race which was held on the same day.

The festival catered for all ages because it started during the day to provide for children while older people also had enough of their entertainment time as the international music festival went on until midnight.

Meanwhile, Fête de la Musique has gone beyond just being a music festival. It is now about socialising and people going out with their families, friends and couples, among others.

The Alliance Françoise of Gaborone in partnership with Orange Botswana had organised the big music festival.

Fête de la Musique is an annual international music event initiated in France since 1982.
The event is celebrated worldwide during the month of June while musicians of different background and genres perform live in several designated areas for free. Ends
