Winter good time for fashion
24 Jun 2015
The drizzling cold, blistering winds and harsh winter weather comes every year and so does the fashion trends which evolve every year.
Just because it is cold out, it does not mean your clothes need to be boring and unflattering. In fact, we firmly believe you have more wardrobe options during the cooler months.
Winter outfit ideas will have to look cute and cozy all season long.
From the latest trends of leather, coats, knee high boots, wool and layering, this year though fashion reconnects with inheritance linage, it goes back a few centuries, incorporating the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s with the modern couture.
This winter fashion stars are taken aback by the vintage collection, which reminisces the old trademarks of fashion.
Locally, we see women rock the traditional Setswana shawl known as mogagolwane, remaking it into beautiful garments.
A few months back, we saw the fashion twins, the GaTsh Fros wearing a redefined design of the shawl at Son of the Soil cultural festival.
Also, Mothusi Lesolle a renowned fashion designer, stated that winter fashion is all about dazzling accessories and layering bright coloured clothes from sassy knee and bicker boots, this is after he rocked a black flawless cape and fashionable torn jeans and boots.
In addition, for women, winter outfit ideas include a bundle up in an unzipped, cinched puffer coat and like many women in the busy streets of Gaborone, a dash of punch up head-to-toe black with a bright bag will give someone a more appealing looking.
According to an international fashionista, Glamour Fashion blog dated 11 May 2015, an article by Lindy Segal titled “34 Winter Outfit Ideas”, for women a floaty dress with cool black and grey will make a cute look just like Blair of Gossip girl, the actress whom is known as Leighton Meester transformed modern couture and vintage in the popular television series.
Segal added that one could also go Parisian-chic in black-and-white separates (From stalking’s to poll neck, flirty skirt, a dazzle of black and white wedges). Likewise like Jackie O with oversize sunglasses and a boxy jacket, and like Mothusi Lesolle one can pile on the accessories.
Also, this winter make black and burgundy your new go-to colour combo and a dash of a printed sweater, colourful sneakers, and a knit hat make for a playful, comfy combo adding that layering a fuzzy sweater-coat over leggings and boots.
Keamogetse Keoreng also a fashion designer and a personal stylist mentioned that must haves for this winter include going with a theme.
A leopard-print skirt with a cat hat would be a genius idea for corporate woman or a public servant when going to work or attending a board meeting.
“Style your knee-length coat like it is a dress, and dress boldly, colourful and rock your clothes with confidence as the sexiest thing in a woman is confidence,” she says.Furthermore, for the street chicks flair one can dress up worn jeans with a long, tailored coat accessorised by the famous lechesa also known as All Star sneakers, or a Tommy bright sneaker.
For men, http://www.vogue.co.uk/fashion/autumn-winter-2014/mensmentions that they should embrace colour—who says yellow tartan with red is too much? And a splash of a purple jersey or pink shirt will make a man more handsome and pop.
The blog continues to say that men should make a fashion statement scarf the focal point of their outfit. From wool, to silk even men can astound a scarf and boots also.
They can also have an option to choose bold sneakers for a surprising pop and wear a belted trench coat—it will truly work with everything. Ends
