One of the biggest international musical event, Fete de la Musique is going down this weekend at Molapo Piazza.
Fête de la Musique is a worldwide music festival celebrated annually during the month of June. while it began in France in 1982 and it is now seen in various cities of the world.
The festival which usually attracts masses, has gone beyond just a music festival, it is now about socialising and people going out with their families, friends and couples among others.
This year marks the 13th edition of Fete de la Musique in Botswana and Alliance Francaise de Gaborone has been organising the event since its inception in the country.
In Botswana, the festival is not just entertainment for the audience, but it is also a platform for new and upcoming artists to get exposure. Both amateur and professional bring music to the people for free.
For the past 12 years, the Alliance Française of Gaborone has been promoting artists and unearthing new talents in Botswana. Ever since, the festival has become an international phenomenon, it is now celebrated on the same day in more than 700 cities in 120 countries.
The concept of this all-day musical celebrations was initiated by the French Minister of Culture, Jack Lang. Ends
