21 Jun 2015
A Molepolole young born, Mmoloki Timpa, 24, is not struggling with unemployment as he is enjoying the relationship between him and art.
The love of art for Timpa started when he was at Primary School where one of his artwork took an award in best drawing and ended his education at Kgari Sechele in 2008.
In an interview recently, he said that he has explored all mediums in art and he does drawing in most of his artworks.
Timpa said he is now a professional artist and exhibitedin various exhibitions such as Kweneng Art Cluster Exhibition in 2005 and obtained position one for best in drawing and also exhibited at Thapong, where he won the artist of the year award in 2009,10,11, and 2012.
With passion in art, I took part in a number of art workshops nationally. I volunteered art teaching skills at Springboard Humanism Organisation in Molepolole, Nna le Seabe AIDS awareness workshops, preparation for Botswana Independence Day through B0B 50 workshop by competing in the design of floats and logos for ministries, for which he said was rewarded with P20 000.
He also said he took position two in President Day exhibitions in 2014 and won P4 000 and sold six paintings for P11 000.
My interest in art is utility and simplicity; I believe that simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.
‘I paint with human behaviour in mind because art is about expression of feelings. Art gives me what I want.” He said. ENDS
