Senior Private Secretary to the President Brigadier Tlhalerwa has called on more individuals and corporations to keep heeding the President’s call on donating to less privileged and vulnerable groups of Botswana’s society.
Speaking during a donation ceremony that involved multiple donors on Wednesday, June 17, Brigadier Tlhalerwa said when President Lt. Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama took office in 2008; he set out government on the fight to alleviate poverty and suffering and also called on individuals and corporations to help.
“I further call on everyone who has the means to assist in this fight and I call on more individuals and corporations to assist,” he said.
Among the donors was Diagnofirm Medical Laboratories which donated 1500 blankets, Mohammed Dada of Broadhurst Motors with 1500 blankets, Mr Wayne Kingwill of Vivo Energy with 208 blankets and Educational Spectrum which donated wheelchairs and P10 000.
Brigadier Tlhalerwa said such gestures were welcome as Botswana is approaching winter season to help those who were vulnerable and less privileged in society.
“For people who have less than we have, this is a great deal for them and it will go a long way in helping them and trying to restore their dignity,” said Brigadier Tlhalerwa.
He said the Office of the President is grateful to those that keep donating and making a difference in people’s lives.
Brigadier Tlhalerwa assured donors that their donations will reach the intended targets.
A representative of Diagnofirm Medical Laboratories Mr Senthil Maran said they are happy to be helping and associated with government on its fight to alleviate poverty and help vulnerable people in Botswana.
He indicated that they will keep on supporting government’s efforts in the fight against poverty. ENDS
