Seretse calls for quality service

02 Jun 2015

Government employees have been implored to always give their best when serving the nation as government has a duty to provide quality service.

Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Vincent Seretse, said this when addressing staff under his ministry. The staff included central government, CEDA and LEA officers in Molepolole recently.

He said public officers had in the past been accused of laissez- faire attitude resulting in customers complaining of poor quality service delivery. The minister urged them to maintain citizens’ confidence in the way government conducted its business.

Minister Seretse said studies showed that clients were unhappy with the level of service offered by government, hence the need for officers to adopt and implement client-centric attitude at all times. He urged staff to learn to respond to public queries, requests and communicate on time decisions taken to ensure transparent and consistent service delivery of public services.

In her closing remarks, Molepolole CEDA client services centre manager, Ms Lillian Almansur, said the Ministry of Trade and Industry was critical in the lives of Batswana as it was an engine of economic diversification and employment creation.

She said it was ideal for departments to harmonise services so as to get closer to the customer, offer improved service and minimise tossing clients around, hence bringing CEDA and LEA under one roof. Ms Almansur said to date, the office managed to spend about P149 million in Kweneng. Ends
