Police commend public for accident free holidays

Senior Superintendent Alakanani Makobo of Francistown area has commended the community in his area of jurisdiction for an accident and crime -free holidays.
In an interview, Snr Supt Makobo said unlike other holidays the cases that were recorded were minor.
He appealed to members of the community to keep up the good spirit and ensure all the holidays are free from fatal road accidents and crime in general. Snr Supt Makobo’s district includes police stations in Francistown, Tshesebe, Masunga and Tutume.
His counter part in the south, Snr Supt Israel Tuelo reports that they recorded two attempted suicide cases and motor vehicle robbery. The police chief’s policing area covers Tati Town, Tonota, Gerald Estate, Kutlwano and Matsiloje police stations.
He said an elderly couple was robbed of their ford ranger vehicle and P300.00 in the early hours of Monday by two men.
The two men, he said, were still at large and the vehicle has also not been found yet, while investigations on the matter continue.
Snr Supt Tuelo said in one of the attempted suicide cases, a 30 year old man of Block One location in Francistown was admitted at Nyangabgwe hospital.
He said it was suspected that he drank blue death after he had a misunderstanding with his girlfriend.
He also said a 16-yea- old man of Tonota was treated and discharged at Masedi clinic after he was suspected of overdosing ARVs in an attempt to commit suicide. ENDS
