Thamaga police investigate two deaths
14 May 2015
Two elderly residents of Maradung ward in Thamaga were recently found dead in what is believed to be a murder-suicide incident.
Superintendent Moses Makgoeng of Thamaga police said a 60-year-old woman was found with serious head injuries that could have been caused by an axe, which lay next to her lifeless body.
The deceased's 64-year-old husband, according to Mr Makgoeng, was later found hanging from a tree 500 metres away from his home. He said they suspected that the man murdered his wife, who was found soaked in a pool of blood by some family members on the morning of the fateful day.
The police said investigations on what could have led to the incidents were still at a preliminary stage.
One of the deceased’s daughters confirmed that his parents had a misunderstanding over the watering of the family donkeys. Her mother had requested her father to water them outside the yard, something his father did not accept, leading to a quarrel. ENDS
