Men found in possession of dead python

30 Apr 2015

Central Police in Francistown are investigating an incident in which two men were found in possession of government trophy.

In an interview on April 28, Superintendent Lebalang Maniki revealed that the case was reported last week and a police team investigated the matter.

He said they found two men, aged 31 and 30 from Matshelagabedi with a dead 41 centimetre African rock python and investigations are still on-going. Supt Maniki further said the two men were arrested but later released while the police had since un-skinned the python to keep the skin as evidence.

He advised people to report any such incident to the police or Wildlife wardens for assistance if they saw wild animals in their yards. In addition, he said people should also leave animals in peace and not kill them if found in the bush because some of the animals are under protection. Ends
