Search on for prison escapees

Selebi Phikwe police station commander, Superintendent Victor Nlebesi has called on the public to assist police in apprehending two prisoners who escaped from Selebi Prisons on April 24.
He said the two inmates were 22- year- old Thato Phomolo Tshwene of Oodi and 32-year-old Benjamin Mpofu of Mazowe in Bolilimangwe District in Zimbabwe.
Tshwene was remanded in custody while awaiting trial on multiple charges of shop breaking, while Mpofu was serving a prison term for multiple cases of house breaking.
Supt Nlebesi said the police and prison officers were looking for the men and appealed to the public to notify the nearest police station on their whereabouts.
He also cautioned the public to approach the fugitives with caution as they were believed to be dangerous. Meanwhile Officer –In charge of the Selebi Phikwe Prison, Superintendent Gibson Nsimbi confirmed the incident.
He said the two men managed to cut the jail bars using some tools before proceeding on to cut another fence near the prison bars and escaped. Supt Nsimbi said when apprehended the men were likely to face charges of escaping from lawful custody. Ends
