Road accident claims three lives

A road accident that occurred at the traffic circle close to Rainbow School in Gaborone at 3am on Thursday (April 9) claimed three lives, Gaborone West police have confirmed.

Station commander, Superintendent Agreement Mapeu said it appeared the driver of a Mercedes Benz lost control of the vehicle and it hit the tip of the circle, overturned and subsequently caught fire.

“Five people were in the vehicle, which was travelling from the direction of Gabane.  The vehicle overturned at high speed, moved slightly into the air and then hit the ground catching fire.  There were three men and two women travelling in the car, one of them was trapped inside and burnt.  The others managed to leave the vehicle, but two of those died as well,” Supt Mapeu said.

The three who perished were two men and a woman. They originated from Shoshong, Molepolole and Zimbabwe.  The two survivors who hail from Serowe and Themashanga are said to be recovering well at Bokamoso Private Hospital. ENDS
