Mochudi police are investigating the death of an 85-year-old woman of Morwa who was found lying in a pool of blood on April 4.
In an interview, Assistant Superintendent Kabelo Bome said they were yet to establish what could have caused the death of the old woman.
He said they suspected that she could have been beaten with something that led to her death. He said the deceased’s 50-year old son had been remanded in custody pending investigations.
Mr Bome explained that the suspect was referred to Sbrana Psychiatric hospital in Lobatse for assessment as he was believed to have mental illness. He said they were awaiting post-mortem results, which would show the cause of death.
Meanwhile, Mr Bome said he was worried at the increasing rape incidences in Mochudi and surrounding areas. He said no week passes by without a reported case of rape. He said during the Easter holidays, they registered four rape cases.
This, he said, needed to be addressed urgently, urging the community to work with the police to help stop rape in their area. Assistant Superintendent Bome said he was worried by rape incidences between ex-boyfriends and girlfriends. ENDS
