Magistrate denies Daniel Kenosi bail
02 Apr 2015
Daniel Kenosi will spend Easter holidays behind bars after Chief Magistrate Linah Mokibe-Oahile of Village Magistrate Court denied him bail today (April 2).
The magistrate said reasons advanced by Kenosi's lawyer were not convincing. "A crime is a crime," the magistrate said after defense lawyer, Lore Morapedi of Lore Morapedi Attorneys argued that the accused was charged for a minor offence. Kenosi would appear for mention on April 10.
Kenosi was arrested on March 24 after appearing for mention at Village Magistrate Court on two counts of causing death by dangerous driving and failure to report the accident, contrary to the Road Traffic Act. The offences were committed on September 28, 2014.
In his latest charge, Kenosi is accused of unlawful distribution of pornographic or obscene material contrary to Section 16 of the Cybercrime and Computer Related Crimes Act. He is also facing a criminal defamation charge contrary to Section 192 of Penal Code in Francistown.
