Police investigate rape allegations

Botswana Police Service (BPS) is investigating an alleged rape case at the Police College.
A press release from BPS assured the public that appropriate measures were taken after receiving the report and it would be pursued to the end without fear and favour.
BPS treated cases of sexual violence with the seriousness they deserved and they would thoroughly investigate all allegations of such. The release said BPS was not aware of any sexual assault cases that had gone unattended at the Police College as one newspapers claimed.
BPS appealed to anyone who could have been victimised or had knowledge of the unattended rape allegations to come forward with the information that could assist the investigations in order for those responsible to be brought to book.
"Anybody with information no matter how minute it might be, can contact Internal Affairs Branch at toll free number: 0800 601 008. Complaints can even contact the Office of the Commissioner of Police".
BPS has a Sexual Harassment Policy, which covers and protects all members of the organization including officers on pre-service training. ENDS
