Tonota police are investigating an accident in which a 57-year-old man of the same village was certified dead at Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital (NRH) after he was involved in a road accident  recently.

Superintendent Kenanao Badumetse said a Toyota Corolla, which the man was driving collided with a horse and trailer truck in Tonota around 4pm and the man sustained serious injuries that resulted in his death.

Meanwhile, Kutlwano police station commander, Supt Motsholathebe Mothibi said four people were helping in investigations after they were found in possession of substance
suspected to be ARVs. He said the police acted on a tip off and upon searching the three women and a man’s homes, they found 37 boxes suspected to be those of ARVs.

He said the police with the help of health professionals will determine whether the substances were indeed ARVs before the suspects appear in court. He said the suspects are aged between 23 and 30 years.

In a different matter, Superintendent Mothibi appealed to the residents of Francistown to be cautious of swindlers who obtain money from them through false pretenses.

The appeal follows an incident in which a woman was on Monday swindled P20 000 after the con artist promised her that he can help her manage her finances
better.

Supt Mothibi lamented that despite sensitization against giving strangers money and ATM pin codes, people continue to fall victim to such incidents.ENDS
