Kanye duo releases Dipilara

12 Mar 2015

Pilara tsa ga Ngwaketse intend to release their first dikhwaere album on March 26.

Simply titled, Dipilara, the six track album was recorded at Mogoditshane based Bullet Music Production studios.

“We have been working on the album since 2013 but due to financial constraints we were unable to record it until this year,” said 29-year-old Gape Bame Tsuaneng.  What seemed like a hobby at Danger Diphawana Choir for Gape and his partner, Gift Ntshekisang, soon turned into something which could put bread on the table.

Tsuaneng said one of the choir leaders, Tona Sepotoka, encouraged them to elevate their talent and consider recording an album, an advice which they embraced well.

It therefore did not come as a surprise that the young men gave their mentor the honours to write one of the songs titled Re Bona Dilo, with the rest all composed by them. The title track, Dipilara, is just a self-praise song in which the two gentlemen describe the great talent they have in singing dikhwaere.

The same applies to Rosari, which assures traditional dikhwaere lovers that if given a chance, the duo has a lot on offer.

“The song Rosari was inspired by the Biblical teaching in which Moses was said to be holding a rosary,” explains the soft spoken Gape.

Other songs like Banyana and Itireleng are a response to general situations facing this country, with the former talking about girls who are involved in marriage wrecking and some causing passion killings.

The latter holds a more relevant message to the entertainment industry since it speaks against piracy.  They use the song to advise people in the entertainment industry to be creative and desist from copying other people’s work.

With a small market such as Botswana’s, Gape said apart from the first promotion which will be held at Kanye main mall on March 26, they also intended to market the album through social media to reach as many people as possible.

He said financial constraints were the major challenges they face, but remained optimistic that it will reach different areas. ENDS
