Many music shows usually attract the youth. This was, however, not the case with the  Seabelo Express Live show on March 6.

The highly attended show saw older people descending one of the city’s popular entertainment venues, BotswanaCraft in large numbers.

That might probably be because of the Seabelo Express Live line-up, which was made up Veteran jazz maestros in Ndingo Johwa and Lister Boleseng, self-acclaimed king of kwaito kwasa, Vee and Mafitlhakgosi Traditional Dance Group.

It is common understanding to many that older people would always prefer jazz music while house music and other fast paced genres were for the youth; hence the line-up was strategically designed to cater for all generations.

Kesego Phetogo, an elderly woman, said she had been waiting for Express Live show ever since its advertisement started.

She said she loved live jazz music so much and could not miss the show owing to a decent place in Botswana Craft suitable for people of her age.

In every show, there are those artistes that when they take to the stage, audiences also left their comfortable seats for the dance floor and  at the Seabelo Express Live show, one such was Ndingo Jowa. 

The Kalanga jazz guru fascinated his fans with his popular hit, Pa nkaka, which was a favourite to many, given the screams during the performance.

Ndingo Jowa’s performance of the song Pa nkaka was the peak of the show as everyone was on their feet dancing to the live tune and they still wanted more of the song after the performance.

As the line-up was strategically planned, Vee was made to seal the already on fire show, where he enthralled his fans with his old school hits such as Taku Taku, Sekukuni and Kedi among others. All in all, it was a worth attending show as Mafitlhakgosi Traditional Dance Group and Lister Boleseng also did not disappoint.

The Seabelo Express Live was a fundraising show to benefit the less fortunate in the society.  ENDS
