Francistown Magistrate, Ms Robin Sethantsho has set March 16 as another mention date for a case in which Mompoloki Mathaba, 33, is charged with one count of allegedly murdering his 32-year-old girlfriend.

In a brief court appearance recently, the state counsel, Ms Wedu Mbongwe of the Directorate of Public Prosecution, applied for another mention date to allow the prosecution to send the accused for psychiatric evaluation. She asked the court to further remand the accused in custody.

Mathaba pleaded with the court to give him a bail because he has a child to take care of. 

His appearance in court followed a case in which a decomposed body of a woman was found at Kgaphamadi location in Francistown on February 9. It is alleged that the body was found after a tip off from the deceased’s neighbours. ENDS
