Various comedians from different parts of the country are expected to treat Jwaneng people to a laughter-filled night this Friday (February 27).

Dubbed Jwaneng Comedy Night, the event is 100 per cent local content featuring the likes of Ribcracker, Jerusalema, Kay Lo, Rekunde, Brooks, Mawee (Gabane) and Phenyo The Master.

The media liaison and events coordinator at Major Moves Comedy, Gaolathe Kediemetse said the show followed another successful one which was held in Jwaneng during the second annual All Star Comedy Tour.

“We had a good reception the last time we were in Jwaneng and we are hoping for the same again this time,” he said. He said the show was deliberately made to be 100 per cent local talent because their intention was to promote and elevate local talent among Batswana.

He also noted that they have realised that Gaborone people have embraced comedy and therefore they were taking it out to other audiences as well, with places such as Kasane and Maun also appearing in the list.

Additionally, he said the show would be used to launch Mawee’s DVD titled Station Commander which features Mochudi-born Phenyo the Master.

“Mawee had a great year in 201, after winning the President’s Day Comedy Competition and coming second in a national competition. He also performed alongside international comedians in Johannesburg hence a DVD was shot to avail his comedy to a wider audience,” he explained.

The Jwaneng Comedy Night will be held at the Galaxy Gardens and tickets are sold for P100 per ticket and double tickets go for P150. ENDS
