Dipetsana releases debut album

When it comes to deep rooted Tswana songs and groundbreaking performances a Serowe based traditional group known as Dipetsana has it all.
The energetic group of four consists of two young men namely Molosiwa Kgoroba Moeti, Arabang Rangapani Moremi and two young ladies namely Keneilwe Mapopo and Kabo Zulu Lekgoane.
Having performed in various events, like the Presidential Arts and Culture competitions, Serowe market day they consider themselves the best.
After realising such a God given talent, Dipetsana Traditional group released a hit album titled Pelorobala, after they won themselves P20 000 cash money from the Presidential arts competitions.
They got position one in the upcoming artist category in the central region and position three in the finals held in Gaborone.
With their immense and powerful Tswana brewed songs Pelorobala was born.
The album has eight tracks namely Pelorobala which is the first song, then Central Kalahari, Marupapela, Bakaa and Bagammangwato amongst others.
Central Kalahari and Bagammangwato songs talk of Botswana culture and beautiful landscapes of the Kalahari Desert, practices of bojale and bogwera initiations and rich Tswana folktales and proverbs.
In an interview, Moeti said the album was compiled and recorded at the Shigomara Records in Serowe under the production of the talented Gokatweng Rakhudu.
He said even though they managed to get the album done they had financial challenges. Forming the group was also a challenge because some members felt that the set rules and regulations of the group were not favouring them and also some members had arguments over the leadership of the group.
“We had difficulties even now the CD is not doing well in the market as people prefer downloading online instead of buying CDs, in terms of show performances Batswana are really supportive, as they turn in large numbers during performances.” he said.
Moeti pleaded with the public to support local music, especially the youthful artists and also thanked the government for the initiative which led to their formation.
He encouraged other aspiring and upcoming artists to be patient, determined and passionate in music as it does not take a day to be successful and master talent. Dipetsana are currently busy with their second album. ENDS
