Tonota Police probe deceit

Police in Tonota are investigating a case of obtaining by false pretence in which a 47-year-old woman of Tonota was swindled a total of P43 000 by two unknown men.

Superintendent Kenanao Badumetse said the men, who are still at large, promised the woman that they would assist her to conceive and she started paying the money in installments effective January.

Supt Badumetse said the woman alleged that she even pawned her car to make part of the P43 000 payment and she became suspicious when she was unable to get hold of the men through their cell phones.

He said it was alleged that the two men met the woman in the street and started ‘prophesying’ and told her that they could help her.

Supt Badumetse said the woman reported the matter to the police on February 18, and the police are still looking for the culprits.

Supt Badumetse appealed to the public to always consult doctors and prophets at their bases instead of meeting them in the streets and public places. ENDS
