Mujangi appears for murder on May 288232
17 Feb 2015
Francistown principal magistrate, Mr Thebeetsile Mulalu, has set May 28 as mention date for a case in which a former police officer, Atlholang Mujangi is charged with murder.
Mr Mulalu set the date after the state counsel, Mr Gasemotho Pitlagano told the court that investigations on the matter were on-going and that the police were still awaiting forensic laboratory results. The prosecutor requested the court to set another date in which the court will be updated on the status of the matter.
For his part, Mujangi requested for copy of the charge sheet, saying he wanted to give the copy to journalists whom he accused of always using names that did not appear in the charge sheet whenever they covered his court case.
Mujangi is accused of murdering a 28-year-old woman who was a nurse at Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital last year. The accused, who is on conditional bail, was initially charged for abduction but the charge later changed when the body of the nurse was found. He was charged together with Tshepo Nnewe but charges against Nnewe have since been dropped. BOPA
