Lizibo's hit apt for Valentine's Day
12 Feb 2015
Afro soul lovers should expect a sensational rhythmic number come Valentine’s day, thanks to Lizibo’s latest hit.
Never mind the romantic Kalanga lyrics, after all music knows no language barriers. And so the beat goes like Tjimunyamunya tjangu tjeludo/ Ha u ndi bata koti u ndi mone Zebe, wow, what more freaking tender loving care can a lover ask for!
Loosely translated into Setswana this means Semonamone same sa lerato, ha o ntshwara okare o ka mmona tsebe. The smashing hit from Lizibo will be released just in time for the day of love, who knows it may end up being an anthem of Valentines.
This afro pop smash hit has a soul and heartfelt lyrics content enough to put a smile on every woman in love. Its melodious slow beats are just a bonus to the lyrics and it certainly has to find its way to everyone’s love song collection.
Inspired by his uncle’s deep love for his aunt, Lizibo says this is in a way a tribute to his uncle and aunt for their love, which even after 19 years they still in love and care for each other in an amazing way. This display of love from his elders, Lizibo says has always been a lesson to him.
He says partners should have special nicknames for their loved ones which represents how they make them feel ‘and not just a pet name.’
He says his uncle calls his aunt tjimunyamunya because his aunt is the sweetest person they know; and with this song Lizibo hopes to inspire others to appreciate their partners the same way his uncle inspired him through the love he has for his aunt.
Known for his hit tracks Otla mmona ko kae, Waka naka and Makholobase, Lizibo is now more vocal and soulful than ever and he grows each time with his new compositions, and Tjimunyamunya is evidence to that.
He has proved to be one of Botswana’s greatest vocalists with substance and creativity he has brought to the music industry of this country.
Tjimunyamunya is from his upcoming second album which is up for release mid this year. This stylish muso whose music often express words that are somehow difficult for a regular guy to say, says this next album represents him as a Kalanga and Tswana speaking young lad.
Lizibo credits his multi artistic family to the uniqueness he has from other musos. His mum is talented in dance, his grandmother and father are great singers. “I was born with all these gifts and I believe that is what makes me different from others’ uniqueness,” utters Lizibo.
He explains that whenever he makes a song he incorporates all these aspects and finds a way that will make his audience and fans react and move and appreciate the song.
With choral and opera skills he also uses that to arrange his composition. “My harmonic sense kicks in from my choral singing, and opera singing days works in my arranging the mood of the lyric.”
Tjimunyamunya will be hitting the radio waves next week and performance on Btv’s Orange Flavor Dome on Friday 13, a day before Valentine’s Day. ENDS
