Koti Na Papa dancing group in Francistown has released a single music video, in their endeavour to present a meaningful message on the difficulties of surviving through music,
In an interview recently, the director of the group, Uyapo Khowa said the video put more emphasis on the Ebola outbreak and violence against women and children in Africa.
Khowa elaborated that their dance is called Sukuma Dance meaning Shake your body. He said this was an enjoyable brand of music with rich and informative message. Furthermore, he said initially they recorded their album at Speto Digital Studio in Francistown.
Khowa added that so far they have printed out 1 500 copies to be sold at their first launch at the end of February in Francistown at Tatitown Junction. Meanwhile, he noted that they encountered some challenges in their preparation of the music video.
Top on the list, he said was bad weather conditions and financial constraints. He, however, maintained that this did not make them lose hope to attain their musical dream.
Khowa appreciated the support he got from family explaining that it gave him courage to soldier on despite the struggles of trying to earn a living through music.
He said that the idea to shoot a video came after they won the My African Dream, first position last year at River Walk Mall which motivated them.
Khowa said the group is made up of four members, three men and a lady, adding that as artists they are not good at talking but are good at disseminating information by singing and dancing. ENDS
