Bomb scare at BIUST
11 Feb 2015
Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) was, today (February 11), forced to evacuate students and staff after receiving a bomb scare message from an unknown source.
BIUST’s acting communications director, Mr Keoagile Rafifing said in an interview that, on Tuesday afternoon (February 10), he received a message on his cellphone informing him to evacuate students as a bomb would go off. He said BIUST reported the matter to the police.
Mr Rafifing said search for the bomb was still ongoing and all students and staff were evacuated to safer places. Efforts to contact Palapye police were futile as the station commander’s phone rang unanswered. The university, which relocated from Oodi to Palapye campus, started its academic year last week. ENDS
