Good Hope police are investigating an incident in which a Metlojane family was robbed P10 000 by three armed men.

Divisional commander south, Senior Assistant Commissioner Oreeditse Mautle said in an interview that the Grobbler family was attacked on February 3 at 1:30am. 

He explained that the police received a report at around 2:00 am after one of the victims managed to free himself since they were hand tied and rushed to the neighbours to seek help. He said the victims, an 88-year-old man and his wife (66), sustained some injuries and were admitted at Gaborone Private Hospital. 

In addition to the stolen goods, Mr Mautle said the culprits also got away with two cellphones, ATM card and a white Honda CRV bearing registration number B323 AYM. He further said the perpetrators were said to be not fluent in Setswana and appealed to the public to assist in arresting the culprits.

Meanwhile, Mr Mautle said they were  also investigating a case in which three motor vehicles that were stolen in one of the court yards in Broadhurst in Gaborone were intercepted at Tlhareseleele on February 1.

He said the three vehicles were spotted by soldiers who were on patrol along the borderline and intercepted them but the culprits fled on foot abandoning one white corolla fielder in the middle of the road while the second blue corolla was found ditched at Ditlharapa and they were still tracing down the third vehicle as the culprits managed to disappear.

He said they had not made any arrests in connection with the two incidents yet and police investigations were still ongoing.He advised members of the public to insert tracking devices in their vehicles and use gorilla locks as they are found effective in causing delays when thieves steal cars.

He appealed the public and employees at the borderposts to be vigilant at all-times and should always inform the police if they suspect something. ENDS
