Trio appears for Kanye robbery

Three men who are accused of robbing Rosherville Investments Cash Loan in Kanye appeared for mention before Kanye Magistrate Court on February 4.
The trio is facing five counts of robbery contrary to section 291 as read with section 292 (1) of the Penal Code Cap 08: 01.
The accused persons are Evans Mhiwatiwa (44) of Makhoni District in Zimbabwe, Gaofenngwe Seitiso (34) of Mafhikana ward in Kanye and Thuso Tangomani (27) from Matlhalerwa ward in Molepolole.
Particulars of the offence are that the three accused persons and another four who were not before court, on January 29 at Motlhala ward in Kanye acting together with common purpose robbed Rosherville Investments Cash loan the sum of P87 064 and a Toyota Allex vehicle valued at P50 000.
It was reported that before the robbery, they used violence against employees and threatened them with pistols.
The police had received a report of armed robbery that took place between 11 am and 11.30 on January 29. A shoot-out ensued after the police pursued the seven suspects. However, Botswana Police Service (BPS) officer, who was seriously injured when a police team confronted robbers near Mmakgodumo has since died.
Police recovered cash amounting to over P73 000, two pistols and life round ammunitions from the culprits. Police investigations are still on while the suspects have been remanded in custody.
The case is before Principal Magistrate Janet Phosa while Inspector Goitsimang Sekgabo is prosecuting. The accused persons will appear again on February 17. ENDS
