27 Jan 2015
Francistown magistrate, Mr Dumisani Basupi, has set February 17 as another trial date of a case in which Atlholang Mujangi is facing one count of malicious damage to property.
The trial, which was initially scheduled for January 26, was postponed after the state counsel in the matter, Ms Tawana Kapongo pleaded for a postponement because two of the three witnesses in the case could not make it to court. She said on February 17 the witnesses would be available and the trial could proceed.
According to court papers, the 34-year-old Mujangi burnt a Toyota Corolla belonging to Letsweletse Matome near or at Mmei Junior Secondary School on April 21, 2012.
Meanwhile, Mujangi who is a former police officer will appear in a different court on February 16 to answer for murder charges.
In the matter, Mujangi is accused of murdering a 28-year-old nurse of Nyangabgwe Referral hospital early last year. The accused is on a conditional bail for the two matters and Mr Kabelo Gaonyadiwe of KK Sechele Attorneys represents him. ENDS
