Police in Tonota are investigating the murder of a 23-year-old Zimbabwe man.
In an interview, Superintendent Kenanao Badumetse said a 25-year-old man of the same country was helping the police in connection with the January 13 murder as it was alleged that the duo had a misunderstanding over the issue of piece jobs.
He said it was suspected that a sharp instrument was used in the murder, adding that the incident took place in Seetswana cattle post near Mabesekwa and authorities of the two countries were trying to trace the relatives of the deceased.
Superintendent Badumetse further said the duo were employed at different cattle posts as herd boys and their employers were fined for employing non-residents who do not have work permits.
He said the issue of Batswana employing non-residents who did not have permits was on the increase. Furthermore, he said employing non-residents who did not have permits made it difficult for the police to trace relatives once a mishap occurred.
This was the second murder involving Zimbabwean nationals in the Tonota policing area, following the one that was reported on December 24 in Mmasalesa cattle post. ENDS
