The Balaza annual fundraising gig, which is in its fifth year running was a success after it was graced by DJ Oats of House University of the popular song Ngoma yo rira and Clemence Magwaza from Zimbabwe.
The latter added a taste of Zimbabwean music to the show held at Nthula farm along Tutume/Senete road recently.
Speaking in an interview after the show, the chairperson of Balaza Charity group Moeti Kuchwe said he was happy with the turn up, saying people continued to show their support for the group.
He said the show was growing every year and attracting audience from as far as Maitengwe and Nata.
“We received a lot of calls from people commending us on a well done show and promising to come again next year,” he said.
He said that they had beefed up security at the event for people to feel safe, provided enough parking and also improved procedures at the entrance.
Mr Kuchwe said the group was formed by the youth of Tutume with the aim of raising money to assist in the development of the village and also help the less privileged.
He noted that they had a great line-up that included the likes of DJ Chabo, DJ Goveiya and Tutume local DJ Power, Zups, Bonsolo and Lolinaider.
The chairperson said that the lineup was done in a way that it covered popular DJs to attract many people while at the same time promoting local DJs.
He said the list also included performances from Magilo Na Leader, MMS Empire, Rap Buffs and Rap Fam Empire who entertained the masses with live performances.
The show offered an experience of all music versions for both young and old fans and Kuchwe said they managed to achieve their objective.
He stated that some of the profit would be used to buy uniform for the best Standard 7 students from all the six primary schools in Tutume.
Furthermore, he said that he was very happy as they recorded no accidents or fights at the event and encouraged people to continue supporting them. ENDS
