Makgasa Festive package for Molepolole revellers
06 Jan 2015
In its second year running, Makgasa party held at Molepolole Sports Complex recently had music enthusiasts from all phases of the town flocking into the stadium.
Despite the rainy weather, clouds thick as if it would rain any moment around 6pm-time scheduled for the show, revellers seemed to care less but kept arriving for the anticipated show.
The music was already playing loud enough to be heard at a distance of almost 3 kilometres away which made the revellers get into a very hyper mood as they got inside the stadium.
The first to get on stage was Molepolole’s Dj Bagas around 9pm, giving a house play warming up the crowd for the night.
He was followed by his fellow homeboy DJ Nizy Boys and the first artist to get on stage is Wrap Teck one of the up-coming lads signed under the Drumsonic Studio.
Flexi Ville revived the vibe as they got on stage with their ever energy, making the crowd even more crazier with their song Khoba.
Looking through the crowd, one could tell by their gear that Makgasa Party is all they have been waiting for, mostly wearing Makgasa branded t-shirts and creatively torn clothing.
The night was an opportunity for the up-coming artists under the Drumsonic Studio to perform their singles which by the feedback of the crowd showed they are coming out well. Presto who performed a rock and roll type of song gave a not so impressive performance, with an imitation of a skeleton image. He took some time on stage and even ended up getting booed by the crowd, ironically shouting ‘fire!!!’ at him.
The most anticipated Molepolole Disk Jockey-Dj Sammusa stimulated the hype of the revellers with his performance, filled with thumping house tunes.
MMP Family made the revellers run wild, performing almost all songs on their album the last to perform being the most favourite, one of the 2014 top 40 tunes ‘Lebala ka nna’, the crowd helping the trio by singing along.
One young boy even went to the extent of jumping a fence from the revellers ‘ floor, through the VIP and throwing himself on stage as the MMP were still performing. However the bouncers gave him the taste of his medicine, giving him two double hot slaps.
Terrior Quinz spiced up the show, giving out their twerking skills which got most of the male revellers moving closer to the stage with their gadgets held high, taking pictures and videos.
Matsieng also added some tradition to the show performing their old hits, the likes of ‘Tinto’ and even highlighting their new single which has some phathisi and polka dance combination.
Later on stage around 3am, the Batho Bame and O tsididi hitmaker, Atlasaone, commonly known as ATI got on stage giving some energy filled performance leaving the crowd speechless, singing along and dancing despite it was early morning that one could think they are now energy drained.
One of the country’ top djs, Izzy performed at the show as well as Crispin The Drummer who gave a showdown.
The Makgasa Party 2014 was organised jointly by Brainwave Multimedia and Drumsonic Studio, sponsored by The Ministry of Youth Sports and Culture at P77 000 as well as an IT company-ICL Botswana with P98 000.
The concept as explained by Baboloki Gapi-Brainwave Multimedia Marketing manager, says ‘Makgasa’ theme was meant to accommodate everyone despite of their income.
The organisers promised a more improved Makgasa Party for December 2015. ENDS
