 Botswana Confederation of Commerce Industry and Manpower (BOCCIM), chief executive officer, Mrs Maria Machailo-Ellis has urged the Ghanzi business community to join her organisation.

Mrs Machailo-Ellis said the BOCCIM membership enabled one to have privileges of discount on products and services offered by members of BOOCCIM and policy advocacy and general business advice.

She said BOCCIM had developed a labour relations symposium for 2013, which would help members in promoting good labour relations and compliance to labour regulations.

She said BOCCIM members had agreements with trade unions to ensure less disruptions due to issues related to labour relations, noting that the main objectives of the symposium were to create a platform to educate senior managers of companies silent issues emanating from the Employment Act.

She said one of the objectives was to highlight recent amendments of the labour laws and its impact on the business.

However, members of the Ghanzi business council and communities’ complained about the problems emanating from Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Board (PPDAB) , BOCCIM forms ,security company forms , which they said were only processed in Gaborone. They said this made them lose business. ENDS
