Shashe Bridge to stage Miss 411 on Christmas Eve

15 Dec 2014

Residents of Shashe Bridge in the outskirts of Francistown will witness the glamour and glitz of beauty pageants on Christmas Eve as the 411 shopping complex will host a unique beauty pageant dubbed Miss 411 2014.

In an interview recently, 411  manager, also organiser of the contest, Mompoloki Kgaje stated that the beauty contest was his brainchild. He said nine young women from Francistown and its outskirts would waltz around the swimming pool, which is adjacent to 411, to contest for the tittle.

Kgaje said the idea of holding a beauty contest around a swimming pool was intended to shift away from the traditional norm of contesting inside a hall or tent and also to promote creation of swimming pools in rural areas.

“I was inspired by the hosting of Miss Tonota, which was held in September this year, to also host Miss 411,” said Kgaje. Furthermore, he said some of the contestants were former Miss Tonota pageants while others were tertiary students and youth who contacted him on his Facebook page.

He stated that the event, which will be sponsored by Distill Expectation, Mob bliss and 411 Bar, will start at 6pm until midnight. Tickets will cost P30 while VIP ones would go for P50. In addition, the contest would be aimed at promoting tourism and bringing business to villages next to Francistown.

He said it would also give the contestants an opportunity of a life time, stressing that winners will not get tangible prices, but rather the queen will win a return flight ticket from Gaborone to Johannesburg with two days accommodation for two.

The first princess will win a return flight ticket from Francistown to Gaborone and a two days accommodation for two and the second princess will win a two day accommodation for two and return bus trip from Francistown to Kasane.

There will also be consolation prices for other competitors and this will include but not limited to hair dressing accessories.

As a dedicated business person, Kgaje said he had been living under his self-taught code: Its Possible, stressing that any idea that came into someone’s mind could work if one put an effort to it.

Kgaje said said  although some people associated entertainment with alcohol drinking, it was however imperative for one to avoid drinking while driving in order to curb increasing numbers of road accidents. ENDS
