Molapowabojang raises funds for centenary celebrations
12 Nov 2014
Kgosi Kedirile Letshabo of Molapowabojang in the Ngwaketse area has applauded residents for the spirit of self-help.
In an attempt to raise funds for the village centenary celebrations slated for end of this month, residents, young and old, came together under one roof to host a fashion show in Molapowabojang. Kgosi Letshabo said he was happy for the spirit of self-help that his subjects exhibited with a view to contribute towards the village’s big day.
He said he was particularly impressed that Molapowabojang fashion designers, models, artistes and DJs came together to showcase their talents to make the night a resounding success. Kgosi Letshabo said they would in future like to find a sponsorship for similar activities in order to inspire young people to explore and pursue their hidden talents.
The organising committee chairperson, Mrs Keitumetse Buthiyi has also expressed delight that residents, led by Kgosi Letshabo, came in good numbers to support the initiative.
Buthiyi, also a fashion designer, said they would like to organise similar activities every year with the view to contributing towards village development.
She said the activities also gave the designers an opportunity to network and market their products, adding it was important for them to complement rather than competing with each other.
Meanwhile, Ms Saddie Seshabo (56), village elder and designer who also walked the ramp to showcase her products, was happy that the event had afforded her a platform to display her products. She said she had been in the business for the last 16 years but lacked exposure but the event came in handy for her.
Local Kwaito artiste, Godiraone Bryan Tlotlego who also performed for free, said there was no better way for him to support the cause than through music.
He urged Molapowabojang youth to contribute to the development of the village, every little way they could.
Dinah Majang walked away with the African attire prize; Tsholofelo Olefhile won the female model prize while Tshepho Majang emerged victorious in the men’s wear category respectively. ENDS
