05 Nov 2014

Kuda 'Nico' Manyenyengwa (30) commonly known as Acuz is a vibrant and talented artiste who has been in the music industry for more than a decade.

In an interview recently Acuz said he started singing at an infant age and he intensified his talent in 2004 after being inspired by the late Bikani 'Sisco B' Nyoto and Solomon 'Chase' Mabutho of Bon Fella Records to become a kwaito artiste, because he has been a dancer and back artiste for the latter for a long time.

However Acuz said being close to those renounced artistes gave him the opportunity to learn a lot from them and he consequently articulated his own style of music called Zion Kwaito.

He stated that Zion Kwaito is a mixture of Gospel, Kwaito and Motswako laced on African beats and he expresses himself in English, Setswana, Kalanga, Zulu and Ndebele to reach a legion of his fans.

Furthermore Acuz who released his first Zion Kwaito album called Telephone in 2011 said his 8 track album is a phenomenon since it enjoyed lot of airplay on local radio stations, stressing that most Batswana love it since it caters for all walks of life regardless of age and background and he managed to perform in shows like Mokaragana during the road show campaign at Makaleng Village.

Acuz who is working on the second album which he said will be released next year said he featured celebrated artistes such as Ashley Gops and Vovo, he also stressed that local artistes should support each other in order for renounced ones to promote upcoming ones so as to enhance the music industry.

He however decried limited time stipulated for shows which he said clashes with those of the closing time for bars and that he said disadvantages them to benefit from the shows. ENDS
