It is not often that choral music festivals or competitions are held in the country, but when they do, they attract a lot of audience.
Choral music shows are increasingly becoming a form of entertainment for many. Multitudes descended Botswana National Youth Council hall over the weekend to enjoy a variety of sweet melodious pieces by church choirs from Botswana, Swaziland, Lesotho and South Africa.
The Methodist Church of Southern Africa’s Gaborone Circuit Church Choir on behalf of Limpopo District Music Association hosted the inter-district competitions.
The competitions brought together three of the districts in the Methodist Church of Southern Africa being the Limpopo, Central and Swaziland and Highveld districts following district music competitions they each held in their respective districts.
It was an amazing show as the best three on each music piece presented from each of the three districts took part in the competition.
The first to descend the stage were the Intermediate section performing songs all things bright and beautiful and Jeso ke Modisa then followed the Youth with songs to God be the Glory and Sobheka Phi na Thixo.
The choral show was slowly gaining some momentum, the Mixed Double Quartet, Female Voices, Male Voices, Senior A and B proved pleasantness of choral music.
Meanwhile, proceeds from the show would be used to start a project that would support the Boy’s Prison in Moshupa. Ends
